Thursday October, 28 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Union Square Event Center 151 Mill Street, Grass Valley The Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Debate on Proposition 23 which is the Suspension of AB32 until California's unemployment rate drops to 5.5% or below for four consecutive quarters. The Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber has taken no position on this Proposition and will not be taking a stand on this issue. The goal, in sponsoring this debate, is to present both sides concerning this controversial Proposition. John Kabateck, National Federation of Independent Business, California Executive Director, will represent Yes on Proposition 23
John Kabateck was named Executive Director of NFIB/California in May 2007.
Prior to joining NFIB, Kabateck served as Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Director of External Affairs, managing more than 25 statewide staff in five regional offices. Kabateck spent four years with the California Restaurant Association, first as its vice president for recruitment and placement and later as its senior legislative director. He served as a special assistant to the Secretary of Business, Transportation and Housing Agency. He later moved to the Office of Gov. Pete Wilson serving as executive writer and chief deputy appointments secretary. Steve Frisch, President, Sierra Business Council will be represent No on Proposition 23 Steve is a founding member of the Sierra Business Council (SBC). Steve manages SBC's program staff and programmatic development, designed to train regional leadership, protect natural resources, improve community planning and stimulate sustainable community development. Prior to joining the Sierra Business Council, Steve owned and operated a small business in Truckee, California and was President of the Truckee Downtown Merchants Association.
