Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber
> Program of Work 2008

The Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce is one of the cornerstones which makeup the community of Grass Valley and western Nevada County. 2008 marks our 98th anniversary.

Our Program of Work for 2008 will address some of the issues and concerns facing our community. As the Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber continues its role as the voice for our business community, the Board of Directors for the Chamber will endeavor to continue to build effective partnerships and mutual understanding with our community partners and leaders to assist in achieving the healthiest possible business environment and continue to improve our community’s quality of life.

Chamber Vision

The Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce promotes business through member services, educational programs, cooperative partnerships and legislative advocacy that balances economic prosperity with the quality of life.

2008 Program of Work

Business and Government Committee

This year through our Business and Government Committee we will continue to keep our members informed on issues coming before the Grass Valley City Council and the Nevada County Board of Supervisors that could have an impact on businesses within western Nevada County. Through our Business and Government Committee we provide a voice for business to Government. Our partnership with the California Chamber of Commerce also enables our Chamber to keep businesses informed of issues facing businesses in California as well as federal mandates that can affect California businesses. We feel it is important to educate and promote strong community leadership to ensure that the future of our community is secure and safe, with opportunities for employment, to be in an environment for business to be successful and prosper and maintain the exceptional quality of life we all enjoy and value.   Revisit endorsement of candidates. Eleanor Kenitzer, Robin Buckman, Elizabeth MacKenzie

Ambassador Committee

Our Ambassador Committee will continue to be the ‘frontline’ of the Chamber acting as ‘official hosts’ at our monthly mixers, overseeing Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies and of course outreach to our members. Susan Rice, Mary Ann Mueller

As co-founder of the Nevada County Leadership Institute (NCCLI) we will “launch” the 12th class of NCCLI beginning in September of 2008. We are pleased to announce that Lori Burkhart-Frank will be this year’s NCCLI Facilitator. More on this at a later date.

Tourism & Promotion Committee

Under our Tourism and Promotion Committee we will work to market and promote western Nevada County as a tourism destination. The Chamber runs the “official” Visitors Center for Grass Valley and is open 6 days a week for visitors needing information on our community, tourism, economic development, etc.. We work with the Joint Chambers of Nevada County, Winery Association, Economic Resource Council, Fairgrounds, Art Organizations, Agriculture Groups and the Grass Valley Downtown Association.   Anita Daniels, Robin Buckman, Kevin Garrity, Mary Ann Mueller

Communications Committee

This year we are thrilled to have launched our new website www.grassvalleychamber.com in January. This website will contain more information and opportunities for Chamber members to advertise. In addition it highlights our community and environment as an exceptional and beautiful place to live, work, recreate and visit.

It is imperative that we pool our resources to proceed as one strong entity giving input and comment to our government bodies. Many of the issues facing our community in 2007 continue into 2008 and beyond. The growth of our community will shape our identity for the future. Together we can have an impact on growth. We need the input from our membership and we need your involvement. A strong and active membership is our biggest asset. Now we must take advantage of this asset as we continue to partner with state and local government and business organizations.  Robin Milam, Mary Ann Mueller, Kevin Garrity
