Chief John Foster presented the Business of the Year to Briar Patch Co-op for their stunning new building on Sierra College Drive. Accepting the award for Briar Patch was Operations Manager, Jose Martinez. 

Howard & Peggy Levine presented the Person of the Year Award to Maestro Paul Perry of Music in the Mountains. Paul will retire this summer after 27 years with Music in the Mountains.

Dr. Susan Rice awarded the Ambassador of the Year Award to Debra Satterwhite with Network Real Estate.  

 

Mayor Mark Johnson installed the 2008 Board of Directors and they include Chairwoman, Eleanor Kenitzer, Past Chairman, Police Chief, John Foster, Treasurer, Tom Haifley, Banner Tax Service, Chair-Elect, Anita Daniels, Citizens Bank, Diane Adams, Holiday Inn Express, Robin Buckman, Old Town Cafe, Hank DiPillo, Paul Law Realty, Larry F. Ingersoll, Placer Title, Elizabeth MacKenzie, Little Friends Child Development Center, Katherine Medeiros, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, Keely Smith, Medical Benefits Administration and John Voter, Delta Home Loans.  

Chief John Foster 2007 Board Chairman turned over the gavel to 2008 Board Chairwoman, Eleanor Kenitzer of the Idaho-Maryland Mine. Eleanor addressed the audience stating she looked forward to a successful and productive year continuing to serve the membership of the Chamber and the business community. She also announced that the Chamber had recently launched their new website www.grassvalleychamber.com with more opportunities for Chamber Members to promote their businesses. The website is also filled with wonderful information on Grass Valley and western Nevada County as a tourist destination, great place to live and work and have a business.

Over 115 people attended the Awards and Installation Dinner. The Grass Valley/Nevada County has over 600 members.
