A special congratulations to the 2010-2011 graduating class of NCCLI! They completed the year with graduation celebration at Friday June 24, 2011.
NCCLI is a special series of one-day leadership development classes that look into a variety of issues, topics and institutions that are significant to Nevada County. What makes the class unique is that it brings together a cross-section of residents from throughout the county, who experience the sessions together. These are business people, government officials and community members who seek a role in our community's future.

For those interested in participating in the next class, the Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber and the Sierra College Nevada County Campus is proud to announce applications for the 2011-2012 Nevada County Leadership Institute (NCCLI)are now being accepted. You may view or print a 2011-2012 NCCLI Brochure. The 15th class of the NCCLI will begin with a kick-off retreat on Friday September 23th and Saturday, September 24th at the Nevada County Campus of Sierra College. The classes meet one Friday each month with the graduation in June. )
NCCLI Curriculum
Topics covered each month include:
Leadership Retreat & Media (2 days)
Starting with a 2 day retreat, a diverse group comes together to learn about themselves and others, develop new leadership tools, and discuss common leadership themes and traits. The role of media and public opinion will be explored with a panel of experts. .
September 23-24
Land Use & Environmental Planning
Acquire a unique perspective on this controversial subject through a discussion of legal issues, land use and planning regulations, and interact with a panel of diverse land use professionals. Culminating Friday’s session will be a welcome celebration sponsored by the NCCLI Alumni Assoc

Business, Industry & Economic Development
Discover how the county and its economy have evolved over the decades, and explore the many facets of the engines that power the economy in Nevada County.
November 18
Local Government
Focus on the challenges and constraints of the budget development process as you explore the inner workings of local government and its impact on residents of our county.
January 27
Health & Human Services
How healthy is Nevada County? Explore current health issues, resources and support services that deal with our community’s health.
February 24
Education in Nevada County
Learn about the educational spectrum in Nevada County from elementary and middle school to high school and community college, including curriculum, governance, finance and accountability.
March 23
Arts & Culture
How do the arts impact the economic health of Nevada County? How diverse is our spiritual community? Presenters may include; local artists, actors and musicians. Lots of hands-on involvement.
April 27
Criminal Justice
Experience first-hand and up-close the county’s criminal justice system – from the courtroom to the corridors of incarceration at the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility and Juvenile Hall..

Lori Burkart Frank will be the Coordinator and Facilitator for the 2011-12 Class. Lori is a certified Lifecoach and has facilitated workshops for teams in business, government and non-profits. Lori supports individuals and organizations in expressing their Greater Vision through identifying and expressing their unique values, creating measurable and profitable results.
NCCLI Steering Committee Chair, Mary Ann Mueller states, "the vision of NCCLI is to help create a strong committed community of leaders, working together to enhance the lives of Nevada County citizens, and to increase communication and cooperation between organizations and individual participants." We are thrilled to have Lori Burkart Frank leading this class, she brings tremendous experience, knowledge and vision and is a graduate of NCCLI.

The Investment
Tuition for the Nevada County Leadership Institute is $700. Individual class participants are expected to pay at least $50, with their employer or sponsoring organization paying the remainder. Partial scholarships are available. Tuition for accepted program participants is due by August 25.
