Fourth of July 2009 Parade and Fireworks Celebration in Grass Valley, CA

The 2009 4th of July Celebration starts with a colorful parade through historic downtown Grass Valley and explodes after sunset with the Sierra foothills' largest aerial fireworks and a special appearance by Buck Love & The Humperheads.

The classic small town parade themed "A New Beginning" begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 4. More than 80 entries including marching bands, antique vehicles, fire engines, floats, equestrians, performers, clowns and local celebrities will delight thousands of spectators expected to line the parade route.

The Nevada County Concert Band will perform a 10am pre-parade concert in the parking lot of Wells Fargo Bank at Mill and Neal Streets.

Longtime community leader Ed Scofield, who retired as manager of the Nevada County Fair and is now serving on the Nevada County Board of Supervisors, is being honored as Grand Marshal of the 2009 Fourth of July Parade.  The mile-long parade begins at East Main and Auburn streets, moves up Main Street, down Mill Street, across Neal Street and up Church Street to Chapel Street.

We encourage parade-goers to bring chairs and arrive by 10:30 a.m. to find a good viewing point.

Join the full family celebration under the pines at the Nevada County Fairgrounds following  the parade!  Live music and entertainment, children's activities, a craft show and food and refreshments are planned. The fireworks spectacular blasts off at 9:30 p.m.

Fairgrounds gates open at 3 p.m. and entertainment begins at 4 p.m. Entry and parking fees will be announced.
No alcohol, glass, pets, barbecues or personal fireworks may be brought onto the fairgrounds.
