100th Anniversary Gala Celebration - February 4, 2010
The Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber is celebrating its Centennial in 2010!
The Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce held a gala celebration for their 100th Anniversary on February 4, 2010 at the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Grass Valley. Many dignitaries along with 18 Past Presidents and Board Chairs participated. Off Broad Street players delighted the house with a special musical Waiting for "Lola" and Emily's Catering and Cakes served our delicious dinner.

Master of Ceremonies for the event was former Chamber President, Jay Cooper who served as President of the Board in 1974 and again in 1981. Reverend Toby Nelson who recently returned from a mission in Haiti delivered the invocation. There were many dignitaries present with proclamations from State Senator Sam Aanestad, who stated how important Chambers are in representing businesses within their communities. Kimberly Pruett, Congressman Tom McClintock's aide presented the Chamber with a certificate congratulating the Chamber on their 100th Anniversary and Grass Valley Mayor Lisa Swarthout presented a proclamation to the Chamber on the 100th Anniversary.

Members of the Grass Valley City Council and Nevada County Board of Supervisors were on hand for the celebration and 18 Past Presidents of the Chamber were on hand for the gala celebration.
Jennifer Maier of Mike Bratton State Farm Insurance was honored as the Ambassador of the Year . Mary Ann Mueller presented the award to Jennifer stating she has worked tirelessly scheduling chamber mixers and coordinated the 1st table top Mixer in 2009. This mixer was a mini business fair with over 21 business participating and over 400 people in attendance.
A very special entertainment segment was presented by Nevada City's Off Broad Street Players who performed a vignette of songs from "Waiting for Lola" an upcoming play that will preview at the Off Broad Street Theater in late February. The play was written and produced by Off Broad Street's own John Driscoll and Jan Kopp to commemorate the Chambe'rs Centennial Anniversary. .Board Chairman Anita Daniels stated "we have great talent in our community and Off Broad Street had everyone thoroughly entertained and the audience showed their approval with a standing ovation.
